Here we go…

I know it’s been a while since I wrote a post. I’ve been busy. There was a lot going on in December and I didn’t have much time to do much, so I’m going to do a mini post now with the idea that I will make up for it in a week or so.

The big news is, I’m done with the cookbook, except for putting it together. I added the last recipes today. I almost forgot to put in one that was fairly important. I don’t know how I did that. But I got it in. Now I just need to format it and put it together. Tomorrow I plan on watching a video telling me how to do it. I thought I could just do it in a Word Document, but for some reason, that isn’t as easy as I thought. Also, I probably did something really stupid when I began writing this. All of my recipes are single files and now I will have to put them together in one file. I also wanted to add photos of food and pictures illustrating some of the categories. So we’ll see what tomorrow brings. I really wanted to be done by now, but I can see that everything takes more time than I thought.

We had a pretty busy holiday. The second week of December was the DAR Christmas Party and since I am the adviser with an amazing assistant and an amazing husband, we had our work cut out for us. We got a lot done right before and then spent 9 hours the day of the party running around and getting everything ready for the kids. I think it worked out fine. I was just glad it was over.

Then we had five more days until winter break. Whew! That felt good! Although I hadn’t done much preparation until the last minute for our Christmas, so was running around like crazy. My daughter got herself a puppy for Christmas. NOT a replacement for the best dog, Oakley, but a sweet little border collie/retriever mix. She has a lot of energy and after pup-sitting a couple times, I realized that Cheddar Bob (our cat) is all the pet I want!

Our older son came for a visit a few days after Christmas and left last week. We cleaned up the Christmas stuff and packed everything away until next year. I admit, I miss the lights. They are so pretty to come home to during the dark days of January, but we were the last in the neighborhood to remove our lights, so it’s all good.

I have started two new writing projects and hope to add to those in the next weeks. Neither is a cookbook and one is a collaboration with a friend.

One thing Santa brought us was a framed photo of the moon over the Strait of Messina, the narrow passage between the eastern tip of Sicily and the western tip of Calabria in the Mediterranean. I know because I took the photo.

Until next time, which will be soon. I plan to have a link for my cookbook up. Happy 2025!

Congratulations on your cook book. I think Olive is adorable, time will tell but is hard to match any puppy or dog to Oakley.
